Reviews:
Chandler was such a wonderful addition to our birthing team! She was very knowledgeable about the process- really helped me understand what was happening to me and what I could expect next. Most importantly though, she was just extremely supportive throughout my 38 hour labor! She spent hours and hours with me both at my house and the hospital, massaging my back, helping me into positions that might expediate a labor that was frustratingly not progressing on its own. I am so grateful for Chandler's support throughout my delivery and highly recommend her to any family.

Her expertise, calming presence, and "you will get through this" attitude were exactly what we all needed. Before this I has no experience with doulas, and expected them to all be older hippies I think ;) But Chandler was right around our age and totally unassuming. She had the perfect balance of empathy, professionalism, humor, and warmth. Chandler is great!

What is your training? Are you certified? If so, by what organization? And what was required in order to receive this certification?
I have a birth doula certification from both DONA International and SBD online school.
I have completed all requirements from both certifications including clinics, child birth classes and breast feeding class. You can check out more about the certifications at their websites.
Are you familiar with my doctor/midwife/hospital/birth center?
Feel free to ask! I am very familiar with the midwives and doctors at Physicians and Midwives Collaborative and INOVA as well as GW Midwives and OBs in DC and Tepeyac OBGYN at Fairoaks INOVA.
When would you join me during labor?
I will stay in contact with you all throughout your pregnancy and especially love to hear updates as you draw closer to your birth month (38-42 wks). I can help you determine if you are truly in labor and come to your home whenever you wish and feel you could use support. As your doula I can also meet you at your place of birth, instead of your home, depending on the course of your labor.
How would you work with and involve my partner?
I will offer an extra set of reassuring hands and a caring heart so that your partner can be fully attentive, engaged, and confident as he goes through the journey of labor and birth with you. Often, dads are encouraged to support their wives even more physically, emotionally, spiritually and verbally with a doula present, knowing she is on their “team” and encouraging him to engage and support his partner in this new experience as much as he feels comfortable.
How do you feel about the use of pain medication during labor?
Doulas offer natural pain management techniques when epidurals do not work 100% or as expected and weather or not you choose to have an epidural or other medication is completely up to you. The professional support of a doula may help dispel fear and answers questions regarding hospital procedures, obstetrical interventions and the unexpected happenings of labor and birth. Women who have a doula never regret the extra set of hands and constant compassionate care, no matter their choices in labor and birth.
Why did you become a doula?
I felt drawn to this after the birth of my first child and I have never done anything so rewarding or fulfilling.
Please see my ABOUT page

What's your refund policy?
I do not offer a refund if I miss the birth because I was called too late, because the labor was precipitous or if I attended your labor but still could not be present for your baby’s birth because your baby was born by cesarean.
Will we meet again to address any concerns or questions I have and to review our birth plan?
I go on call for you up to two weeks before your due date and two weeks after your due date. You can call, text or email me at any time during that time. I will be available to you 24 hours a day during that time. If by chance you should go into an early labor before 38 weeks I will do my best to accommodate your needs if your contract has been signed and money has be received.
